Karate with a blend of Aiki

Some of our club members were lucky enough to attend a seminar on 12th June in Basingstoke taken by  Rick Hotton Sensei ( 5th Dan). Rick is a 52 year old veteran of Karate-Do and has been Chief Instructor of West Wind Karate Dojo for the past 42 years. An innovative instructor, Hotton Sensei combines a mixture of classic training infused with Aiki principle to form a unique approach to Karate practice. Hotton Sensei’s teaching and approach can be viewed on his popular YouTube channel ‘Shotokan Karate’ which has gained a worldwide following.

All club members enjoyed the day and are excited to put into practice some of the ideas shared on this day.

I’ve been training with the SSKD since 2010 returning after a long break, I haven’t looked back since. Karate has a different effect on everybody but it’s helped me with strengthening my mind, composure, clearer mental capabilities and more self confidence. Not only does it strengthen the entire body it improves coordination, quickens reflexes, builds stamina and overall general health
